Summer in the West Village
A Storied Closet
by Jen Pinkston
If we look back on the past couple of years, the East Coast seems to be a magnetic force in our story. Our time spent in the Hamptons has deepend every year– this year’s KK Cabana pop-up in East Hampton opens on July 11th. Throughout the year, there is a steady flow of meetings, events, and press that keep us coming back to the city. I love the cobblestone streets and so many of the restaurants– looking at you Buvette and Via Carota– of the West Village, in particular.

My first interaction with Café Kitsuné was in Paris, near the Palais Royal, waiting out an afternoon rain shower, which probably explains my fondness for the coffee shop. After picking up your morning coffee, cross over Hudson and Bleeker and meander the brownstone-clad streets of Perry and Charles, wandering down the storied Grove Street. If you work up an appetite for brunch, find your way to Buvette.
For shopping in the West Village, Three Lives and Company is a quaint bookshop where we always find something to bring back on the plane. The same could be said for the inimitable John Derian and Company. At Greenwich Letterpress, we convince ourselves that we are going to write more letters and stock up accordingly.
Few things beat aperitivo with a friend at Bar Pisellino. It’s the most Italian experience outside of the mother country. To continue your Italian journey, get a table at Via Carota and settle in for an unforgettable meal.
