Remember When
Morning Musing
by Katie Kime
"Remember when you wanted what you currently have."
I’ve seen that quote a few times in my feed recently and have always liked it. But over the past few days, I’ve really been trying to metabolize it.
This weekend, we headed to Connecticut to drop off our second youngest at a camp where 100% of attendees have dyslexia. I got teary the second we stepped on campus at what I could feel was an incredible model, caring staff, and stunning campus. Having a child that learns so differently, it felt like a godsend, and we said our goodbyes with a few tears but mostly overwhelming excitement.
Now it’s to the Hamptons for the first-ever Katie Kime mobile pop-up. It will launch at Wöelffer wine stand, where it will stay for five days before making other stops in South Hampton, ending at Polo Hamptons before making its way back south. The effort from our team to make this happen is nothing short of inspiring. There will be lots of behind-the-scenes we’ll be sharing along the way.
In tow is our precocious, hilarious, snuggly two-year-old who will spend her third summer in the cooler Northeast temps and towns we’ve grown to love.
We’ll spend the 4th of July with some of our nearest and dearest, and over the next few weeks I’ll see old college friends, make memories with our team, and, hopefully, new partnerships for our growing brand.
All of these things, at some point, I could have only imagined. Some, like having a baby, I wasn’t sure would ever be a part of my story. The dream of this business has pulsed through my veins for nearly twenty years.
And they’re all here. Now. Personal and professional challenges abound. Laughably (to keep from crying), in some cases. And those demand their due process.
But to the extent that I can, I’m clinging to this quote and am going to soak up every second of this summer that I can.
