I Brought You A Coffee
Morning Musing
by Katie Kime
Our former creative director, Julie, would always show up with an extra coffee (particularly if she knew your caffeine of choice), for whoever she was meeting with. I don’t know if we met once, one-on-one, if we weren’t
already in the same location, where she didn’t text to ask if I wanted a coffee or a smoothie. She was picking one up on the way.
I strangely remember the first time as adults, my brother picking me up and handing me an unsolicited coffee from stopping at Starbucks on the way to get me. It stood out to me so much that I’m writing about it here.
Gifts have always been my love language. But it’s the small, everyday ones, that have always meant the most. Someone remembering a candy I love. My favorite magazines on the nightstand by the bed when we go to visit my mom.
I’ve been marinating on how I can make time to remember, and act upon, that if the little things go that far for me, that maybe they do for everyone, and acting accordingly. Hoping to slow down enough, particularly in holiday season, to be able to show up at least a few times while saying, “I brought
you a coffee.”
